The Flaming Lips - Hear It Is & Oh My Gawd!!!: Color vinyl reissues of the first two classic albums.

Hear It Is (white vinyl LP) A highly anticipated vinyl reissue of the first full-length album by one of the most well-loved and influential bands of the past 25 years. Following in the grand tradition of other great Southwestern psych bands such 13th Floor Elevators and The Red Krayola, The Flaming Lips first act mixed punk, country & western, psychedelia, goth, and pure bar-band rock and roll into their own curious creation on classics such "Jesus Shootin' Heroin," "Trains, Brains, & Rain," and "Charlie Manson Blues." Sharing the weird, slanted pop sensibility of contemporaries like Meat Puppets and Butthole Surfers, this early masterpiece continues to influence bands to this day. Indeed, the punk rockers were finally taking acid. Deluxe reissue on white vinyl.

Oh My Gawd!!! (clear vinyl LP
) Further evolving the sound on their debut, The Flaming Lips' second album finds the band mining the psychedelic aspects of their sound even more. The bands ambitious nature begins to reveal itself with Ummagumma-era Pink Floyd, Mountain, and even Blue Cheer becoming clear influences on their sound. Includes such seminal tracks as "One Million Billionth Of A Millisecond On A Sunday Morning," "Maximum Dream For Evil Knievel," and "Prescription: Love." Deluxe reissue on clear vinyl.

Twilight Singers - Blackberry Belle: First ever vinyl edition of the band's grand second album.

Greg Dulli (ex-Afghan Whigs) returned to his Twilight Singers in 2003 with the atmospheric Blackberry Belle. This time around, the dirtily soulful self-hater/lover was joined at one point or another throughout the recording by multi-instrumentalist Mathias Schneeberger, guitarist Alvin Youngblood Hart, Galactic drummer Stanton Moore, the incomparable Petra Haden, and Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees), who takes main vocal duties on "Number Nine." Even Prince protege Apollonia makes an appearance as a backing vocalist for a few tracks. White vinyl issue includes the bonus track: "Run Rabbit Run."

Judee Sill - Judee Sill & Heart Food: The first two albums from a truly unique and talented icon.

Judee Sill Judee Sill's debut album (as well as the debut for David Geffen's then fledgling Asylum label) heralded a major new talent in the airy, contemporary folk world of the early '70s. The album employed the production skills of ex-Turtle, ex-Leaves Jim Pons and Graham Nash (on the album's sole single, "Jesus Was a Crossmaker"). Judee Sill featured all original compositions, many of which relied on Sill's unique cosmological imagery to make their point. By turns spare and lavishly orchestrated, there is a cohesive feel to the album; her lyrics are exceptionally poetic and her smooth voice gives every song a shimmery feel. The essence of the music is folk, the execution pop: the songs feel like a comfort blanket, a statement of hope from a troubled soul. New detailed liner notes by Michael Crumsho.

Heart Food On Judee Sill's second album, rather than using an outside arranger for the strings (as she did on her previous album), Sill did all of the work herself. Her lack of formal training and the immense amount of orchestral overdubs certainly would have made such an outing a hardship for anyone. But the results are outstanding with echoes of Bach supporting the stellar early 70s Laurel Canyon singer/songwriter melodies. The supporting cast of top L.A. studio musicians solidifies Sill's unique brand of folk-flavored pop, which moves from introspective meanderings to loping rock, often within a single song. New detailed liner notes by XTC's Andy Partridge.

Porter Wagoner - Misery Loves Company: Classic 60's material from one of Country's longest standing stars.

Most folks know that his '60s-'70s syndicated TV show was the launching pad for Dolly Parton's career, but what they may not realize is that Wagoner issued many fine hard country sides during his long career which began in the early '50s. Included here are eleven of his best 1960s recordings: "Enough To Make A Grown Man Cry," 2. "Satisfied," 3. "Misery Loves Company," 4."Sorrow On The Rocks," 5. "Green, Green Grass Of Home," 6."Skid Row Joe," 7. "Cold Hard Facts Of Life," 8. "Big Wind," 9. "Carroll County Accident," 10. "Eat, Drink and Be Merry," 11. "What Would You Do If Jesus Came To Your House."

Grandaddy - Excerpts From The Diary of Todd Zilla: Vinyl edtion of Modesto's favorite rock heroes.

The much anticipated newest installment to the Grandaddy song cycle finds Jason Lytle and company getting a little rockier, a little headier and for that matter, a little heavier. Leaning much less on the keyboards and over the top orchestration than previous releases, the emphasis shifts to the guitars and Lytle's vocals. The seven songs featured on Todd Zilla serve as the pre-cursor to the Tell The Central Valley To Kiss My Ass full-length due out after the first of the year. So much has been said about this band, good, bad and indifferent, but this might be the chapter in their career where even the fence sitters get it. Packaged in a beautiful exclusive sleeve with custom color insert.

Eno/Moebius/Roedelius/Plank: Reissues of three fantastic genre-defining albums

After The Heat Brian Eno's second album collaboration with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius of Cluster consists of slow-moving instrumentals full of repeated synthesizer sound patterns and sustained guitar notes in the ambient style familiar from Eno's collaborations with Robert Fripp and albums of his own, such as Discreet Music. The album also features vocals from Eno on three songs.

Begegnungen A prime compilation from the Eno/Cluster family, Begegnungen features solo, duo, and trio recordings circa 1976-1984. These include pieces from various configurations of Eno, Moebius, Roedelius, Plank, and percussionist Mani Neumeier of Guru Guru. The compositions are strong and inventive, and the music, an eclectic mix of progressive Krautrock and artistic, ambient electronica, is the best of its genre. All the material is synth-based and mostly upbeat, even bubbly at times.

Begegnungen II These tracks, recorded from 1976-83, are an appealing mix of artsy electronic ambiance and progressive Krautrock. Eno's mechanical "Broken Head" stands out as the only vocal track - a dark, almost oppressive industrial tune. "Speed Display" is a fantastic showcase for percussionist Mani Neumeier's speed and endurance. He generates an incredible rhythmic groove, supplemented by sparkling synthesizer flourishes. Roedelius shines with two contributions to the set. His atmospheric "Mr. Livingstone" is an Asian-influenced synth piece with percussion. Along similar lines, the warm colors of "Langer Atem" may have been inspired by Eno's more melodic ambient work, perhaps "Music For Films." Moebius and Plank's "Conditionierer" scores as upbeat, quirky synth rock.

Antonio Carlos Jobim: Three classics from the bossa nova master collected in a beautiful box set.

Available exclusively from KOCH
. The songwriter behind the Brazilian bossa nova, Antonio Carlos Jobim landed on the American scene after saxman Stan Getz scored a surprise hit with Jobim's "Desafinado" in 1963. As bossa nova gained in popularity, American audiences demanded to hear more from the man who penned "The Girl From Ipanema." After recording one U.S. album for Verve in 1963, he moved on to Warner Bros. and recorded these three classic albums, together for the first time on this box set, which includes the albums: The Wonderful World of Antonio Carlos Jobim (1965), Love, Strings & Jobim (1966), A Certain Mr. Jobim (1967). The Wonderful World... pairs Jobim to good effect with Frank Sinatra's longtime arranger Nelson Riddle. On Love, Strings & Jobim, Eumir Deodata lends his arranging skills, and A Certain Mr. Jobim completes the trilogy with Jobim's "lithe, lingering music and voice." For fans of Brazilian, Latin jazz, bossa nova, easy listening and lounge.

Afrika Bambaataa - Beware (The Funk Is Everywhere) & Planet Rock: The Album: Two pioneering electro/hip-hop albums by one of the genre's innovators.

Beware (The Funk Is Everywhere) Available exclusively from KOCH. First time on CD for this 1985 debut album release. Bambaataa's combination of urban street beats with techno-pop futurism would go on to influence several genre's including hip-hop, house, techno, and electro-clash to name a few.

Planet Rock: The Album Available only from KOCH. Bambaataa's second full-length on CD for the first time. All the important early 12"s from 1982-1984 are here, including the unerring "Planet Rock" and "Looking for the Perfect Beat." This record is an early hip hop classic, foreshadowing so much dance music that would come in following decades.

Willie Nelson - The Ghost, Part Three: Final volume of rare sides from the one of a kind performer.

This third and final volume of Willie Nelson rarities features 19 sparse and intimate tracks originally from his own archives. Tracks include: 1. Blame It On The Times, 2. No Tomorrow In Sight, 3. A New Way To Cry, 4. I'll Stay Around, 5. Broken Promises, 6. Happiness Lives Next Door, 7. Let's Pretend, 8. I'm Going To Lose A Lot Of Tear Drops, 9. Waiting Time, 10. Both Ends Of The Candle, 11. Go Away, 12. Right From Wrong, 13. What Can You Do To Me Now, 14. She's Not For You, 15. The Storm Has Just Begun, 16. What A Way To Live, 17. Ashamed, 18. Shelter Of My Arms, 19. One Step Beyond. A perfect compliment to Masked Weasel's previous two volumes of The Ghost.

Charles Brown - Black Night: Collected hits from the 40's and 50's from this mellow blues pioneer.

Charles Brown invented an entirely new genre of blues for sophisticated post-WWII urbanites: ultra-mellow and jazzy with laid-back vocals and his incredible piano - similar to, but bluesier than Nat "King" Cole's Trio. It's perfect "after hours" music. This collection has all of his '40s and '50s hits: DRIFTIN' BLUES, TROUBLE BLUES, ROCKIN'BLUES, BABY LET ME HOLD YOUR HAND, BIG LEGGED WOMAN, LIVIN' IN MISERY, BLACK NIGHT, MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY, IT'S GETTIN' TO BE EVENING, LET THE SUNSHINE IN MY LIFE, COUNTING MY TEARS, I WANT A G.I.R.L., LET'S MAKE EVERYDAY CHRISTMAS, I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS.

Kenny Rogers - Something's Burning: The best of his 1960's recordings.

Don't dismiss Kenny Rogers as just the bearded porker that dueted with Dolly Parton on "Islands In The Stream" and wet grannies' panties with his TV appearances and smooth baritone growl on the country hit "The Gambler." Before reaching superstar status in the late '70s, Rogers was a member of the pop-rock hitmakers The First Edition ("Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In"), and before that, folkmeisters The New Christy Minstels (which included a pre-Byrds Gene Clark and other proto-folk/rock notables). And by the way, his brother started the International Artists label which brought the world Roky Erickson and The 13th Floor Elevators, Red Krayola and others. This CD presents the best of Roger's '60s output and includes "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town." Detailed liner notes.

Jeff Mangum, Major Organ and The Adding Machine, and Elyse: Three gorgeous vinyl releases from Isota Records.

Jeff Mangum : Live At Jittery Joe's Already considered a classic live album from the genius behind Neutral Milk Hotel. Includes solo versions of several Neutral Milk Hotel classics, Phil Spector's "I Love How You Love Me", and the never officially released Jeff Mangum original "I Will Bury You In Time". This is the first time the album has been available on vinyl.

The Adding Machine : Major Organ and The Adding Machine (vinyl LP) An oft misunderstood modern psych-pop masterpiece created by principle members of Neutral Milk Hotel, Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power and Of Montreal. As twisty and turny as records get with songs that stick in your head for days on end. First time on vinyl.

Elyse : Elyse This lost 1968 psych-folk classic has found a new life thanks to the current underground folk-scene and the resurgence of interest in artists such as Vashti Bunyan, Sandy Denny, and Buffy Saint-Marie. An attention-grabbing mixture of death-fixated medieval folk, imaginative pop arrangements and rockers drenched in sound effects, not to mention one song featuring Neil Young on guitar!

Remote Islands - Smother Party: Debut album from up and coming Philadelphia quartet on Isota Records.

A likely candidate to be anyone's new favorite band. Remote Islands are led by the extremely talented Colin Pate. Most of the band's debut album, Smother Party, was written and recorded by him over the past couple of years. Since then, he's assembled a great live band that has been playing quite a few shows around Philadelphia and gaining some serious attention. The album is the sound of someone making a lo-fi bedroom record, but trying to reach out to the whole world. It's not the sound of slacker moping, missed chord changes, and solipsistic twee-mo whining. Much like the great Olivia Tremor Control records or Animal Collective's best work, this is idiosyncratic pop music that defies it's influences and transcends them. Some of the songs you sing along to, some of them you feel. Either way, you can't escape them. Imagine Fleetwood Mac or Buffalo Springfield's urgent pop topped with a trifle of Pere Ubu or Faust's whimsical leftfield flourishes. Touring the East Coast in January"

Uberhund - The Tarp: A Bay Area institution introduces it original sound to the rest of the world with its stellar debut album.

Uberhund is a unique little monster of a band. The band is comprised of main songwriter and guitarist Matt Dickey, guitarist Gwen Gregg, bass player, Paul Mathus, and drummer/engineer Jay Pellicci. In addition to recording the last two Deerhoof albums, Jay Pellicci also plays for Crime in Choir, Dilute, and 31 Knots.

They play a bastardized form of rock that pretty much ingratiates itself to anyone with ears. Essentially, the album is a bunch of heavy pop songs that incorporate math-rock, prog, goth and early 80's Liverpool into something unquestionably its own. Add to this a lyrical naivete with a penchant for swear words and it's just perfect. Reference points include: Polvo, Echo and The Bunnymen (they cover one of their songs on an Isota 7" single), King Crimson, and Quickspace, and Mclusky.
